Living a Life of Influence, Part 2

Following Christ in Your Career

Introduction
So how do we live a life of influence?
1. Pray
2. Choose a career that shapes the culture.
3. Work with excellence.
4. Be relevant.

As Christians, God has given us a message, a story for the world.  What is that message?

And isn’t that a message worth sharing?

How important is it?

How do you follow Christ in Your Career?  What’s the difference between a Christian supervisor and a non-Christian supervisor?

Matthew 10:32 "Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven.

1. Be Strategic
Christians need to engage the secular culture.

Politics
Do you know any Christians that are politicians?
What if a politician used scripture and intelligence to explain why they were voting a certain way?  Would you say “I believe the Bible, but that’s gone to far.”  Is the Bible relevant or not?

Shouldn’t there be a difference between a Christian politician and a non-Christian politician?  What about Matthew 10:32?

Comics
Do you know any Christians that draw comics?

Journalism
I am a journalist.  Did you know that?

2. Pray

Medical
In 1998 my family and I moved to Pa to start a brand new career.

 Can I pray for you?

3. Provide an Alternative

Movies
Chariots of Fire
About the 1924 British Olympic Track team.  Where Eric Liddell’s Christian character is portrayed very well.

We need good scripts.  We need Christian screenwriters and producers.

If you have a good story, it can be made into a movie.

TV
Are there any TV shows that positively portray Christians?

7th Heaven
Touched By An Angel
Christy

Sure there’s Skyangel and TBN.  But what non-Christian is going to watch that?

Books

The problem is that Christian Writers write for Christian readers.

Secular writers are not going to publish something overtly Christian.

 Darwin on Trial
 Purpose Driven Life

 Scan articles.
